American Black Walnut Timber Features:

American Black Walnut is a strong, durable hardwood known for its rich, dark brown color and distinct grain pattern. Easy to work with and capable of holding stains and finishes well, it adds both beauty and longevity to any project.

Natural Timber Variations:

Our walnut shelves are crafted from natural wood, which may feature unique color variations, grain patterns, and imperfections such as knots. These characteristics are part of the wood's natural beauty and do not affect its quality. Please note - that one side of the shelf may include small "timber boat patches"— intentional repairs where a matching piece of wood is inserted to fill imperfections or knots, creating a smooth, level surface. These rounded or curved patches add to the shelf’s charm and durability. Each shelf is unique, so slight variations from photos or samples are to be expected.

Finishing Instructions:

To finish your walnut shelf, you would need to sand the ends of the shelf to remove temporary wax finish which protects the unfinished shelf in transit and whist being stored, this is to prevent moisture from entering the shelf and the shelf cracking in the unfinished state. We would recommend giving the shelf a final sanding in a fine grit sandpaper. Clean off the dust and then apply your selection of wood finish to create your desired final look, this could be oil, stain, wax or a polyurethane. Allow each coat to dry and sand lightly between coats for a smooth finish. If desired you can apply a final coat of clear finish to protect the shelf further. Let the finish cure fully before using the shelf. When selecting your product to finish your shelf we would recommend a product that is designed for furniture.

Shipping : For this size shelf we will courier out to you, should you want multiple shelves especially in the larger sizes (1200 +1800) and brackets we recommend that you contact us for an individual quote if the delivery address is outside of Auckland. We may be able to ship via Mainfreight cheaper than what the website charges depending on order size and location.
